Recent developments in the case of Lucy Letby, the nurse convicted of murdering seven babies and attempting to kill several others, show that she is now appealing her most recent conviction. Letby was sentenced to a whole life term in August 2023, following her conviction for the murders that took place between 2015 and 2016 at the Countess of Chester Hospital, where she worked in the neonatal unit.A public inquiry began in September 2024 to investigate the circumstances surrounding the case, particularly how Letby was able to carry out these crimes undetected for so long. The inquiry is expected to conclude in 2025, with a final report expected later that year. Additionally, Letby has a new legal team and is pursuing an appeal against her most recent conviction for attempted murder, which will be heard on October 24, 2024.Her defense team is seeking to have her case reviewed by the Criminal Cases Review Commission (CCRC), raising concerns about the reliability of the evidence that led to her convictions
